Afraid of not getting into any cybersecurity careers because of no internship experiences.

I am going to graduate this summer and I’ve been looking for potential internships for this summer since last Fall of 2020. I initially majored in accounting, but came to a realization that accounting is not for me and switched to Cybersecurity last Fall. Currently, I’m taking all major classes that are required in my school and all I know is basic fundamentals of coding languages such as Python, C++, and Java.

I was only allowed to take coding classes as prerequisites before taking Cybersecurity. Right now, I am taking Cybersecurity as a Winter course and my professor claimed that it is not enough to cover the CompTIA Security+ exam (which I am not surprised considering it’s a 3.2 week long session). I’ve been getting email responses from the internships I’ve applied too, and majority of them have rejected me so far. Though, that is not going to make me stop applying for more internship opportunities.

I’ve also been studying and preparing myself for the CompTIA Network+ exam, and I will be taking the exam by next month, and then hopefully take Security+ during the Summer, and CySA+ by the end of the year.

Overall, my question is: Even if I have no internship experience related to Cybersecurity on my resume, will the Certification exams give me a boost of getting accepted to a career in cybersecurity?
