Just a rant to let the steam out . Unlike the West ageism is rampant in my place of the world ( read Middle East and South Asia )

I am an IT guy with background in (System Administration / Network Engineering 15+ Years ) trying to pivot to pure cybersecurity role .One would have thought pivoting from General IT would not be that difficult. Yet to land a single interview for a pure cyber security role . And one of the recruiters advised me stick to IT roles as he told me that I was overage for SOC roles.

Any ways I sort of leveraged my connections with System Integrator in my current capacity and hopefully we are finalizing a consultant position , so there is that .

For better or worse, COVID seems to have proven that most companies can work just fine with a fully remote IT staff.

Perhaps this, combined with what seems to be a major push to hire more cybersecurity staff globally, might make it viable for you to interview for overseas positions? Just a thought!
