Amazon delivering un-ordered SD-cards

I ordered 2 items from Amazon and they each arrived in their own envelope.

Surprisingly I also got a 3rd similar envelope with Amazon logo on it which contained two 32GB memory cards. But Amazon’s “My Orders” page knows nothing about such an order, and I don’t recall it either. I did order 32GB SD cards from Amazon years ago.

Since reading about “mystery seeds from China” being delivered by Amazon I wonder if this could be something similar. Maybe the SD-cards contain a virus. I talked to Amazon and they said I can destroy them if I want and that is what I will do. Just wondering if anybody has heard of mystery SD-cards from Amazon as a vector of cyber-threats?

Almost certainly, someone at Amazon screwed up an order. Were the product packages inside sealed?

Getting malware just from plugging in a card is unlikely, but not impossible. Opening any files is a little riskier.

I’d personally be curious enough to check them out, but I’d also use a Chromebook to do it where the risk is miniscule.

IMO it’s *much* more likely a shipping mistake than malicious. If you’re curious if anything’s on them, I’m happy to pay shipping, dump the contents, and update here. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
