App using ungranted permissions?

Using an Android Samsung S8. Noticed Reddit feeding me promoted posts regarding a laptop i was discussing and researching on a separate PC. My assumption was that Reddit must have used my microphone to target the ad, but I have microphone permissions turned off in my settings.

So the questions is: How does Reddit (or any other app) know what I am doing on a seperate non-connected device, OR, how is Reddit (or any other app) using my microphone without me granting the permission in setting.

Pardon if this is a noobish question, but any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.
