Right now, I’m just beginning my college journey to receive my Bachelor’s in Cybersecurity, and while I don’t have any on-the-job experience at this time, I’m trying my best to keep up to date with the news regarding security breaches, new updates, etc.
This sub-reddit does an amazing job at helping me stay informed, but it’s led me to a question. Of course it’s useful to know various programming languages, but what about linguistic languages?
Let me clarify my thoughts. With the rise of news on various “state sponsored attacks”, would it be useful to learn other languages (Russian, Mandarin, etc.) in my spare time, even though it’s not necessarily a requirement to break into the field of Cyber security?
If yes, what advantages could it potentially give me when applying to jobs, or working when I finally get a job in the field? Additionally, are there actually any jobs in the Cybersecurity field that require knowing a second language?
