Hi, I’m 31 and recently enrolled at a local community to finish my Associate degree before transferring to a four-year university for Software Engineering. I’d like to get into Penetration Testing, and figured Software Engineering is both a good skill for that field, and gives me a fallback career in case I end up not liking cybersecurity.
I’d like to work on getting my certs while I’m in school, and was wondering if I should work on getting the A+, or skip it. I even thought about skipping the big three CompTIA certs all together and just studying for CEH and PenTest+, before moving on to more advanced certifications. This may be a bit of wishful dreaming though. In case it matters, I have about four years of low level Help Desk experience under my belt from an old company that was started by my uncle, but that was from ages 21-25, and the company itself has long since been shuttered.
