I have been working in CS for some years in different roles (strategy/intel/technical.. you name it) and it feels like I’m in this field for 20 years already. Burnout symptoms aside, I’m sincerely wondering which roles could have less of the usual suspects when it comes to burnout.
It’s tricky because I believe this is a field that deals with both technical and human vulnerability, triggering our owns sense of emergency/survival/never ending tasks. Having some boundaries and requirements don’t cut this reality out of the equation. So I’m genuinely wondering if being burned out will have to be the unavoidable price the pay every few years or if there are some roads to take that will hurt less ?
