Certifications VS degree

I’m currently a sophomore doing a cyber security engineering degree. Online school has been hit or miss. I still have a passion for this field and have a few questions that I was hoping I could get answered.

Do cyber employers really care about the degree or certifications?

Does your length in getting the degree matter, as well if you failed classes and retook them?

Also is there a big pay difference if you have a degree?

Thanks in advance

Degrees and certs are good for getting you past corporate HR monkeys and scanning software.

So…yes….. To a point.

Your biggest ally to getting the job will be how well your skill set relates. Documentation experience has had more prospective employers salivating than anything else. (In my experience.)

Edit: also, I’ve never had any employer ask about my failed classes or gpa. I have a M.S. in IT… That makes them feel good about themselves.
