Cybersecurity or IT manager

Okay so I’m still looking into my career as I get out of highschool and into college. My question is should I go for IT manager or cybersecurity. I’m a person who likes to be moving around and working rather than sitting at a desk all day. My question is what is a day like working in cybersecurity what are the task assigned to you and what is it you do on a daily basis? I dont know much about cybersecurity in that aspect i know a bit about the work but not much to really go off of. I’m still looking for my career so nothing is set in stone.

I work in cybersecurity and have my entire life. Also did IT management for a long time.

Honestly IT management of network and end user systems is really boring. Gets old quick and problems are eventually all the same. You can make decent money and it’s easier to start in IT than cybersecurity since it’s more general/less specialized.

Cybersecurity has a higher average salary and starting salary most the time. Some low paying, entry level jobs like security analyst but then all the way to Director/VP/Founder/CEO.

My advice would be to do what you love. You can always pivot from one to the other. Focus on getting a good boss and a good company to learn and start there.
