I was browsing youtube and was really bored, so I kept clicking videos. I ended up accidentally clicking a very sketchy youtube advertisement on the side where the recommended bar is. It opened up saying I could do surveys and had a pop-up that said “don’t go…” and whatever. I got really scared and closed the tab almost instantly. I’m worried I could have got something on my pc. I’m scared to click on the ad again because I don’t know what I can get from something like this. Should I be worried or does it only matter if I physically download and run something? Attached is the picture of what the advertisement looked like.
A majority of those ads shouldn’t be clicked even if they are from official companies, implying your browser isn’t outdated or really shit you should be fine, drive by downloading is a hard thing to do now let alone actually getting it to run, if you are worried run a program called ADWcleaner, it takes 2 minutes and is really good at cleaning possible adware and stuff
