Email security questions.

So as of the past few weeks I’ve been having a lot of attempted logins to my email. I know that this isn’t uncommon in this day and age however they were never as frequent as they have been recently. I’ve been checking my Authenticator app to see recent activity and every day there’s multiple attempts. However I don’t get a request from my app to allow it.

I’ve checked haveibeenpwned and sure enough I have been on two of my emails, I’ve since changed the password etc, they were mainly leaks from websites I barely remember signing up for.

My questions are:
How are they bypassing me getting a login code on my Auth app?

What exactly is an automatic sync attempt?

Are there any further precautions I should take besides changing to a strong password and using 2FA?

If anyone could give me any tips or insight I’d be very grateful! I’m beginning to dread opening my app to view recent activity, it’s making me kinda paranoid, Thanks.
