For ISSO (or eventually ISSE) careers. Is there one that people generally look down on? Got SEC+ About a year ago and am debating which path to take
Generally employers don’t care about degrees, mostly because most of the people running the cyber security field don’t have them and view them with great suspicion. They want you to look like them, which means a CISSP and a great deal of skepticism about institutions of higher learning.
Or you could come to the dark side where all the money is and get a CS degree and write software to do interesting things instead of writing RMF packages and doing Nessus scans for your entire career.
I have a BSCS, MSIA, and am just about to finish up an MSCS. I worked in cyber security for a little while and found it boring to say the least. I write software now.
