Hey, I’ve always been interested in the cyber security field and protecting people from harm. I know (almost)everyone here literally works in the field and you all are pros but im just looking for a little advice here. I don’t necessarily understand all the terms used in this sub regarding cyber security but i am here to learn.
I am a high school junior aspiring to work possibly under the government or such, for cyber security. I know web development, python and java, i will be learning C++ and data management soon in dual enrolment. I will try to search for networking DE courses too for the semester after that.
But, I was wondering what major is the best for getting into cyber security. I am leaning more towards CS but idk, whatever you guys say is best. I know there are various fields in cyber security but again, i dont really understand the terms and I absolutely have no family/friends in the field to help me understand; I am interested in protecting people from hackers and protecting their information- that probably sounded very vague lmao, i probs sound rlly dumb- i need guidance.
Also, I will be doing some coursework on udemy soon too(pls suggest some entry courses if you can).
