I’m an undergraduate interested in pursuing a career in information security, but there are so many different roles/positions and it feels a bit overwhelming.
In my information security course, we’re learning about a broad range of things- such as cryptography, networking/server attacks, compliance and operational security; cloud computing security, penetration testing, and risk/compliance.
I am very interested in these topics, but having a bit trouble narrowing it down to one job role/title, as these are all different responsibilities for different positions.
I was hoping someone could give me a few examples of what job role I could go into, if i’m interested in the business/operational approach and the technical side of cybersecurity? Also if you currently work in info or cyber sec, please give me an idea as to what you do in your role and why you enjoy what you do?
