How can I transfer data from an old hard drive to a new hard drive?

I just got a Macbook Pro and want to transfer everything from my old Powerbook. The thing is, the battery on my old comp is dead and I have no way of charging it. Can I still get stuff off of the old hard drive?

I bought a small Hard Drive transfer/converter box that allows you to connect any hard drive to a computer and copy the data off of it. It’s been a while, but think it ran about $35 or so. You literally pull the drive out of the old computer, and plug it in. It will make the drive you are copying a slave drive automatically so it will show on the computer just like a new hard drive. Then it’s just copy and paste. You can pick on up at a local computer store. Hope this helps.
