I am working on my resume for a SOC analyst position and many people have suggested that I put how much money I have saved the company by preventing X damages/attacks from occuring. But how do I measure this? I mean I have no idea on how much it would cost if we lost X amount of data. Where do you get the calculation?

Use an RTO calculator to get started – you’ll have to make assumptions for some of the values.

This will give you an estimated cost of an incident you can work with.

The last time I did this, I started with Datto’s: https://www.datto.com/rto/

The advice you received is good advice: having quantitative details on your resume (MRR generated, annual savings etc.) are highly beneficial in my limited experience and I’ve heard the same elsewhere.
