how is enumeration done on IPv6

I was playing around with netanalyzer for Android. I scanned my WLAN while I had wireshark running on a laptop ( – 255) and noticed that the request was basically ARP requests, but from my phones IPv6 address.

this got me thinking, how are scans done on IPv6 networks? Is there a different approach or is it a case of scanning the address space as with IPv4?

Do you mean host discovery when you say enumeration?

Or do you mean how are hosts allocated an ipv6?

In both cases nothing really changes between the ipv6 and 4. Dhcp handles allocation and you still ping every IP to discover alive hosts. Depending on how ipv6 is subnetted scanning could take a bit longer than ipv4 given the overall potential size of available hosts.
