First background. I live in Southern CT.

Career experience newest to oldest. I have recently had a couple of big jumps in pay and I think I’m about to get another one. Currently I make 80K and I think I’m about to get an offer for 110 but I think it may be low for my skills. what do you think.

1 year as IT security analyst ( really more of an architect I’m the only cyber person here and I’m tasked with building their entire cyber infrastructure. Already deployed a VM, SIEM, and MFA solutions.)

1.5 years with the IRS as a IT Security auditor.

5 years as a SR network engineer

3 years Telco as eng 1 to eng 3 or so… Comcast and Century Link

I have a masters In IT Security from a good school, and a CISSP

I’m about to get an offer for an ISO/ISA at a regional bank here in CT. I’m curious what you guys think I should be asking for salary wise. I’m thinking 110-115 is what they are going to offer. But I think it should be closer to 120. Am I wrong or is that what I’m worth.

Thanks for any input.

Humm, honestly it’s subjective, experience can sometimes mean nothing. I’ve worked with some over paid security engineers who had 10 years of experience but sucked at their job.

Honestly I’d ask for what you want and see what they come back with. Your worth is what a company is willing to pay, there’s no formula for it cause someone with 3 years could be a rock star and someone with 8 years could totally just suck. Also comes down to the company budget and the company, some companies will pay higher due to demand or need or they just can.
