How much more secure is an iPhone compared to a flagship Android/Galaxy phone, really?

I’ve been hearing both sides of the coin, on one hand, I read that Apple is focusing their efforts into user security and privacy which is a good thing, but I’ve come across articles online saying that Samsung Knox is actually more secure compared to iPhones.

So, the question is, which is the more secure device? Which is harder to break into and extract data from? Which one is more privacy-centric? And I’m talking about an un-rooted Samsung phone running on the vanilla OS and not a custom rom.

Thank you
