I was trying to uninstall this virus-like antivirus for almost two years when a friend from my postgraduate class help me out of this. It seems that after you uninstall Avira via Control Panel (and do not reboot your system), you have to go to your Program Files and search for a specific .exe. To make it easier, just open your Task Manager and select one of the Avira programs, right click on it and select “open file location” (I think that’s how it is in English, sorry, my laptop is in Spanish). After that, you get to a folder where all the other Avira programs from Task Manager come from. Then, you only have to search for the file “setup.exe” which has Avira’s logo and yeah, I know, sounds stupid to setup again, but trust me. When you open the file application, an Avira window pops up. This window is for either install the app again or UNINSTALL COMPLETELY the app.
After that, you just have to reboot and it is all over. Now, there is only a folder left that it is for software updates in the same location of Program Files (86x)/Avira, but this one you can have a good time erasing it since it doesn’t give you a message about System permissions. And that’s how you get rid of this shitty antivirus without having to restore your computer from fabric! I hope it works for you guys as well.
