I’m about to graduate with a computer engineering degree. I’ve taken senior level network communications as well as senior level computer and network security course work. From all of the places I’ve applied for jobs there are essentially no entry level jobs. I would already have to have a year or two of experience in something like software development. I’d prefer to just get some cybersecurity specific education in order to speed up the process of getting a job. My problem is that I’ve read all sorts of opinions on what professionals recommend from getting a CompTia cert to a Cisco specific cert to graduate university certificates. I just don’t understand what to pursue that will get me a solid foot in the door without spending time repeating things I already know. Right now I intend to take Stanford’s advanced cyber security courses, but I’m fully sure how effective that will be to start with.
What do you guys think the best cert/education is to pursue to get a cyber security job relatively quickly and with a solid base?
