Long story short I am currently working at a security company as an cyber security analyst and have been there little over 2 years making about 50k The company is going through some changes and I am told that I am getting recommended for a promotion by the supervisor but at the end of the day it’s up to the manager and the ceo. I haven’t been told how much of a pay raise. Other note is that promotions and internal transfers within departments are not very common and once again up to upper management to make the final decision. My goal in security is to be an IR team member or Cloud Security.
I have applied to other positions as a cyber security analyst but I have a very limited skill set at this position. I applied for It positions and I got an offer for one them fo 70k, 2000 bonus every year and performance review every year that could lead to a 5% or more raise. However it’s not Security and I would like to stay in the security field. I have my security+ and my SA+ & thinking about masters. However I feel that I am putting myself at a disadvantage when I decided to go back into the security field if I take the IT position. I am still going to pursue my CISSP/CEH/GCIH whether I decide to stay or take the new position. Please help with any advice also side note I do have a new born baby.
