I hate networks… is there a spot for me in the industry?

Hey guys,

I’ve just finished the first semester of my Cybersecurity course in Australian TAFE but I’ve kinda realised I really disliked networking. The thought of opening up Cisco Packet Tracer and creating topologies disgusts me and I hope I don’t do some sort of networking stuff in the future. Apart from that I really like doing scripting with Python, penetration testing and tinkering with Linux. With that in mind, I do really have to go through the networking phase and get some experience or could I just go straight to cybersecurity related role and not have to worry about networking again?

You need to understand how networking works, you don’t need to design topologies with cisco tools.
