I received a notice from my network admins that they detected “MALWARE-CNC Win.Trojan.Agent variant outbound connection” but I am using a Mac, should this concern me?

I do use wine for this one game I play, but would this affect my machine? Since if not, it surely shouldn’t be able to establish a connection in the first place right?

There isn’t much context here and plus, just because you use a Mac, doesn’t mean you are invulnerable to viruses and that weird message you got from your network admin.

Hi OP

Looks like your network admins use Snort

Macs can get malware too.

What AV/security software are you running?

And you are using Wine with your Mac? Not Boot Camp or Parallels?

What game are you playing? Is Snort picking up game connection as malicious (since you are in work environment of some kind?)
