I stupidly opened a rental scam email and previewed the attached images in Outlook. Is my computer safe? If not, what can I do to ensure my system can’t be compromise any further?

  3. I stupidly opened a rental scam email and previewed the attached images in Outlook. Is my computer safe? If not, what can I do to ensure my system can’t be compromise any further?

I’m on the hunt for a new apartment and initially thought the email was a promising lead. There are about 20 files that appear to be JPEGs, and I used Outlook’s “preview” feature to view all of the seemingly harmless images in my browser (Google Chrome). I’m on a Mac running macOS Catalina. Malwarebytes scans come up empty. Hoping it was just a phishing scam, but can never be too sure…
