I think I may have accidentally downloaded malware onto my computer.

Sorry is this is the wrong subreddit for this.

Today, I was trying to watch direct TV online through their website forge the first time. When attempted to view one of the programs I was told I needed to install their player. I thought that this was a little odd but trusted the source so I went ahead. The moment the installation began a script popped up and text began to load in it. Windows defender/security paused it and asked if I wanted to continue and I selected no. There was another window from the install that seemed frozen so I restarted my computer and immediately deleted the download. Afterwards, I disconnected my internet and ran malwarebytes but the scan didn’t detect anything.

I also found the direct TV page ( https://support.directv.com/troubleshooting/3679 ) with details about the client installation and saw that it will automatically install flash if it’s not already on your computer. I had previously uninstalled my Adobe flash since it’s EOL. The Adobe website also warns against third party installations.

I’m pretty paranoid right now and worried about what was on my computer. Did windows defender successfully block any malware? Is there anything else I can do to make sure my pc is free of any malware or viruses at this point? Thanks in advance any help.
