Hi, I wanted to secure my digital life better. I don’t own anything precious like bitcoins or expensive steam account but still I hear a lot about people getting hacked almost at random or attacked by ransomware. I want to invest in some good antivirus to buy myself peace of mind and security.

Google told me mainly about Norton, Eset and Kaspersky. All of them look really impressive but I also started to think recently, how it looks with spyware from antivirus side? I mean, is it possible to turn off sharing my data with them and believing that it really isn’t send anywhere? I mean, antivirus by definition get access to absolutely everything including deep os stuff, am I right?

I also heard from people that antivirus doesn’t make much sense if you aren’t into deep web stuff, and if I won’t click on link in emails it will be fine, but to be honest I have hard time believing that.

Especially I feel “threatened” on my android phone. A lot of stuff is being done today via smartphone and I don’t know why but I don’t trust much google play store and android env in general.

What do you think about this? Should I select at random one of those three that I mentioned?

An antivirus is not the way to go here, your best bet is “hardening” your devices, turn off unneeded features, uninstall programs/apps you dont need, keep the operating systems and applications up to date at all times, etc.
