If I go to a website which has a Trojan, does this mean my whole PC is infected or just my browser?

Avast antivirus had detected a trojan on a website I am visiting and blocked the connection, however I have white listed the website as I do use it regularly. Does this trojan affect my entire PC or does it affect my browser. If I do a full scan and Avast does not find any Trojan on my PC does this mean I am safe or is it possible my browser has been hacked and if so how do I use Avast to clean my browser?

Unless youre running an outdated browser/system, the chance of an drive by attack is minimal, you can also reduce the chances by using an adblocker.

Also, what was the site URL?

And get rid of Avast and use an antivirus that respects your privacy.
