Hey there, I had to make an account and post because I feel stuck right now and need some direction. So prior to 2019 I had absolutely no computer experience besides building pc’s. Last year, I took a certification program at a local university which taught a bit about a lot of cyber security topics and then also passed my CEH. Up until early this year I had no practical working knowledge of any programs or languages, but I decided to start studying for the OSCP in Feb because I wanted to be a pen-tester. I have been working towards my OSCP and learning a lot of pen-testing tools but i’m supposed to write it in September and still feel like I have so much learning to do.
I am getting very discouraged because I know how hard the OSCP is and don’t think I will get it (for now at least) but I really want to get a job in the field and am willing to put my want to be a pen-testing to the side to get some work experience or any job in the field at this point. My question is, what should I get learning to get an entry level job (such as a security analysist)
Should I look at Splunk? Maybe learn Python? Any advice would greatly help because Im feeling really down right now!
