So my googling has proven futile but if there’s one thing I know, it’s that reddit always somehow has the information I’m after :)
I’ve heard from multiple people that their iPhones are exhibiting strange behaviour with phone calls. There’s a few different things that happen:
1. You get a call from a known contact but when you answer it’s not the known contact, it’s a stranger.
2. You are making a call but before the ringing has even started you can hear voices.
3. You call a known contact from your phone but the person who answers is a stranger (not the contact you called).
Those 3 things seem to be the situations I’ve heard about (1 and 3 are basically the same, just inverted). I’ve tried doing some research but I can’t seem to find any actual reports of this issue.
I’m from Australia and there has recently been a MASSIVE amount of spam texts going around (I think that’s unrelated but it’s worth noting).
I’m hoping someone else on here has either heard of these issues or experienced it first hand. I’m not even sure if the cybersecurity sub is the right place to post this but it does seem like it could be a security/privacy issue.
p.s – I’m not on desktop so the formatting might be crap
