Is a start-up company a good starting point?

Good morning fellow r/cybersecurity. I come to you seeking advice. In the past year I have switched careers from Science to IT and have been through a bootcamp for both software development as well as cyber security. I have since obtained my Sec + and CySA+, and have since been on a job search for infosec jobs the past 3 months.

I have been offered a role in a start up company, 1099 job, with great pay compared to my last career. I would be taking on about a 50% managerial role and 50% technical. This is my first IT career. From what I’m understanding the rest of the small team isn’t the most technical, I would come on with the most “formal education”. But the manager has 5 years experience in the field and seems to know what he is doing.

My question is, should I be worried? Are there companies out there that are really willing to take people in based on their attitude/drive/work ethic and train them? In my job search I have been turned down many, many, many times and am running out of savings to live on. I don’t really have a choice and I feel like it could be a great starting point. Or it could be a disaster in some unforeseen way.

Out of my 600+ job applications, and maybe 10 actual interviews, I have landed this role and have 1 more 2nd round interview next week for a more traditional, w2, well established business. It is not a guarantee though. I am still going to interview for it, but the above mentioned start-up definitely wants me

What is your opinion on this situation and start up companies as a start-up for my own career?

Thank you for your time and feed back.
