Is it possible to change the timestamp of a sent gmail permanently?

Hi,

My friend has been accused of changing the time sent on an email sent to a teacher. It was sent at 8am in the morning via a iphone and reached the teacher’s school email at 11am. This has happened twice with emails sent from his iphone. He has the sent email with 8am on the time stamp in his sent mail folder and my friend’s parents have opened up his folder in different computers. The school principal is saying he tampered with metadata. He is desperate—he has ADHD and is a bit disorganized but is vehemently saying he has not tampered with the date—he keeps showing the sent mail. Can you help with some advice of how to approach the school? Thanks

The headers in the email received by the teacher will have timestamps in them placed there by google that are not alterable by the sender.

Tell them to prove changing date is possible… if they can’t, you win, if they can, you lose…
