Is software engineer or software developer also considered cybersecurity?
Not in most cases. There are developers that take security more serious, but most companies have security team as separate from their product / dev teams. Security is of course a critical component in software development, but it’s generally security teams that are advocating for more secure applications and practices.
Cybersecurity should be at least a part of every field. If you’re going to be engineering and developing software, you need to be able to have a finished product that’s not vulnerable to attack or compromise.
That said, no. It is generally not from what I’ve seen ever been considered a subset if “Cybersecurity.” (Unless you were developing security software of course).
Agree with the other posters but there does seem to be a good emphasis being made in DevSecOps withing software engineering and development (especially the Sec portion) and secure coding standards are starting to be required more heavily.
