Kaspersky blocking downloads

I just got kaspersky after seeing its performance in tests, and want to download something which I know is safe, however it is repeatedly giving me the “Failed – Virus detected” message on it. I can’t add an exclusion for the file, because it is never being downloaded, so there is no directory for it. How would I go about allowing this file to be downloaded?

What is this file youre trying to download?

>I know is safe

You looked at the source code?

Is is a game file/.EXE file, etc?

What virus does K say it’s detecting?

You can pause protection:

>The main window of the Kaspersky Anti-Virus:

>Click the Gear-wheel icon on the bottom left corner to open the Settings window and navigate to the General tab.

>Turn Off the switch in the Protection section.

>Select the Continue tab when a window pops up for confirmation.

Note: in 2021 it says “pause protection” or “pause file protection”, same idea. Turn it back on when done.

And: you’re sure there is no malware in it?

Kaspersky tends to be over protective. If you’re sure it’s a false positive and the file is safe, just turn it off while downloading.
