KSC Free detected an attack across 10 minutes so I setup a router VPN

I use KSC Free and been very pleased so far. Last night I was downloading some flac music from tpb and noticed later there was an attack blocked my ksc which lasted around 10 minutes.

So I decided to setup a VPN within my router’s settings (TP-Link Archer C6U). I setup OpenVPN through TCP, exported the config, installed OpenVPN, imported the config and it shows connected to the internet with an IP assigned.

After using other software VPNs I was expecting that when using ‘whatismyip’ that my location would be hidden as well, but that’s not the case.

Is this any reason to worry about? Or is the VPN still working as intended, assigning me a different IP, but not hiding my location?

Thank you!
