LG Electronics’ North American subsidiary server was hacked by a ransomware attack
As a result of SBS coverage, it was confirmed that a hacker group uploaded 7 files of 28 megabytes, estimated to be internal data from LG, on the dark web, claiming that a hacker group hacked LG affiliates.
The dark web is an internet network that can only be accessed through a special browser.
According to LG’s own investigation, a hacker broke into LG Electronics’ North American subsidiary and data was leaked.
In addition, some files are known to have been encrypted by ransomware attacks.
LG explained that there was no material inside information in the leaked data.
It also said that there were no threats, such as hackers demanding recovery costs.
Internet Security Agency is also aware of the damage and is reviewing the contents and progress of LG’s actions.
Meanwhile, LG’s data was posted by a hacker group called ‘Conti Ransomware’, which began activities in June of last year.
Even recently, it is notorious for asking for money, targeting dozens of companies around the world and leaking internal data.
