National centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity?

I recently learned that some colleges are deemed national centers of academic excellence in cybersecurity by agencies like NSA and DHS(im not sure if any more agencies do it for cybersecurity). My college is one if them and I thought it was pretty cool and might help in an interview especially because my college only offers associates but has the same credibility with those government agencies as colleges with bachelors programs.

Im wondering if anybody knows about this whole National centers of academic excellence in cybersecurity and if it really holds any weight in the industry.

I don’t really see that holding any weight or giving you any advantage over any other candidate.

If an institution holds a place in the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity, that is mainly meant to target potential students rather than market their degrees to employers post-graduation. Beyond some colleges having more eyes on their students by government agencies camping at ceremonies for new grads, they don’t hold more weight post-graduation from what I’ve seen.

The school I took cyber security classes at had this accreditation. I am sure it helps for certain employers, but my skills / interest in cyber sec are what got me my job.
