i’m currently studying for my bachelors in computer networks + cybersecurity. i’m not too far into my degree and have taken some of the computer network courses and have realized i am really not into them. i’m someone who thoroughly enjoys analyzing data. i guess i’m wondering if i should take a more broad major like “computer science” before i focus on a specific area? i’m on the brink of transferring schools because i am currently in an online school and would rather have in-class courses, as they are more challenging.
Data science is the hot skill set right now. Plenty of data in cyber, esp. when it comes to analytics but if networking isn’t your cup of tea, it may not be the path for you. Now is the time for you to sample these topics but also to remember that the real world is all about problem solving, so learning ways of understanding are as important as the technical skills at this point.
