I’m (20M) a newly graduated (Associates) Cybersecurity student who also just passed their Security+ certification exam. I also competed in the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC), qualified for nationals (with the help of a team), and am also looking into making a home lab for the sake of getting my head back into the game (just came back from a short vacation after graduation).
At this point, the main goal that I want to accomplish right now is to land an entry-level job in the field without having to invest more resources into schooling.
Although the real question that I want to ask is what I should do as my next step?
On one hand, I don’t really feel like I have a lot of experience in the field just yet and feel that I have to keep training, but don’t really know how to achieve said training as I now have to self-train, and on the other, just want to try and apply to entry-level positions in the hopes that by landing the job I can get the experience I need/want.
If anyone here who was situated in a similar situation can guide me in the right direction or can suggest any ways that helped you get ready for a career in this field, I would be very grateful!
