Hello everyone, I am currently almost finished with a BA in information technology with a minor in computer science hoping to get into security. Lately, I’ve been thinking about going into graduate studies. My dream job is to be a professor/researcher. I would love to be a professor and contribute research into the field. You know what they say, you like what you do and you never work a day in your life. I already found my niche of what I want to research on.
A lot of people on here, on different forums, and some people I met in person say do not go into a degree labeled “cybersecurity”, as since it’s such a broad field, its important to gain knowledge, skills, and wisdom in other areas and will be much more helpful to go into information technology, computer science, etc. With this being said, if I wanted to pursue graduate studies into the field of security, should I follow a cybersecurity phd track? Or should I follow an information technology/information science track phd track?
