So, I’ve recently started working for a new company; new job, new platform, whatever. After a month of “integration”, I discovered that I need and I will use almost nothing from my Cybersec skills and experience in this position. Honestly, this is a job for someone from the DevOps area (+some Linux admin skills). This position is new for my team (not for the company) and I think the hiring (line) manager have no idea about the real job requirements. During the interviews I understood some of the job requirements, but it seems not entirely, and I was a bit misled by the functional manager.

How I see the situation:
1. enjoy the payment, do the job for a while, try to keep my skills up to date, prepare for a new job;
2. discuss with the hiring manager and try to find a solution; unfortunately I’m not allowed to apply for another position in the same company during the first year of employment;
3. start searching for a new job and tell them bye ASAP.

I know I’m supposed to figure out this by myself, even so, I’d like to know a different point of view. Thank you.
