I recently got my first gig in the cybersecurity world as a casual for a company specialising in DFIR and eDiscovery.
I don’t know if it’s normal, but I can’t help feeling really overwhelmed by the amount of things to take in, especially considering I haven’t had any prior experience (teaching background; still at uni). I really like the team and can see how smart/experienced they all are, so it’s a great place to learn, but I’m honestly just stressing about it and spending a lot of my spare time after work and on weekends trying to upskill to feel ‘useful’ for the team.
Did this happen to any of you in your first cybersecurity job? Not sure if it’s a red flag or if this is just the norm with a career change.
