I use [pass](https://www.passwordstore.org/) with gpg and git, and consider it pretty essential to maintaining my sanity and security.
When I see family-members/friends managing passwords on paper, I want to suggest that they try pass instead, but I don’t think that’s a reasonable suggestion to someone who’s not already comfortable with gpg, git, and the command-line.
I’m hesitant to recommend any of the more user-friendly password managers because I don’t know enough about them to judge how secure they are, plus I have a certain amount of mistrust for proprietary software.
What do you think is the reasonable thing to suggest in these cases?
