Hi there,
I am working as a network engineer for the past 4 years and want to build a career in cyber security. I have CCNP and CCNA in routing and switching. My friends suggests I should be starting out with security + exam and then find a role in SOC and get a CISSP? What do you guys suggest?
Thanks!
Your friends are wrong and I wish people would stop claiming either help desk or SOC is the only path into infosec, because that’s complete bullshit
Are you tired of working in networking? What other areas interest you? Do you want to stay at your current company or go elsewhere? Do you have your degree? Do you have any management experience?
That’s exactly right. Sec+ and then look to move laterally in your organization if possible. If not, you’ll have no problem finding a SOC looking to pick someone up with your experience!
