“Please Enter Your Password Using Your Phone’s Keypad”

Yesterday I called in to Fidelity Bank. Part of the identity verification involved typing in an approximation of my password using my phone’s keypad (A, B, C–>2 etc, symbols–>*). This raised a red flag for me—is there any way Fidelity could implement this security procedure without storing my password in plaintext?



Same way as you entering it online.
