Port forwarding port 22 for ssh on home network or parsec?

I’ve seen a lot of posts related to this and I’d like to know the security concerns of either method (specific reasons pls).

Is it safer to run a linux server as ubuntu desktop and connect to it through parsec or port forward port 22 and auth connect to a linux server running ubuntu server through ssh? (I would be connecting to either the servers through the internet)

This would be running on my home network and I dont have too much experience in linux. I already did a test setup on my bigger server with a vm and got everything working locally on a private network within my home network.
I won’t be able to have pysical access to it for at least 2 months. I use hamachi for my friends to connect to the game servers running on it, but hamachi is to unreliable if i need to change things on it from afar.
