Hello all, I will be graduating this April with an Honours Bachelor in Business with my major being management information systems. I’ve been thinking about entering the cyber security realm for quite some time. I had been planning on taking the one-year post-grad certificate at Cenntenial College (Toronto, Ontario) in Cybersecurity. I know I could also just study for the CompTIA Security+ as a beginner. I just wanted to know your thoughts on taking a post-grad certificate in the field, as a beginner I want to know the best route to take to enter this field. I had also considered taking the cyber security boot camp with lighthouse, but it is SO much more expensive than doing the college certificate, so I have pretty much chosen not to do that one. I just want to know from people with experience, what the value of a college certificate vs security+ would be.

The courses that I would take in the college programs would be the following:

– Information Systems Security

– Communication Networks

– Cryptography & Network Security

– Web Security

– Software Security

– Cyber Forensics

– Mobile Network Security

– Cloud Security

– Capstone Project

– Ethical Hacking and Defense
