While doing some updates this morning I noticed that across multiple machines on the C drive all of them had a seemingly randomly named folder most of which started with A but not all.

Inside the folder on each of these machines were also randomly named files of many different types including many Microsoft file types.

I’ve run through many scans including SuperAntispyware, Malwarebytes, Cybereason, and two sites reccomended here https://virustotal.com and https://hybrid-analysis.com.

Even with all these scans/sites coming up with nothing I just can’t believe it. These are on at least a dozen machines so far with some of them being done at times and locations that would be inaccessible physically

Has anyone heard of or seen anything like this or even a legitimate piece of software that does something like this for some reason?

Here is an example of a folder on one of the machines: https://i.imgur.com/QlcKec6.png

They look a lot like ransomware bait files, are you running some sort of anti-ransomware software on your machines?
