Rejected from an entry level cyber security position because my degree is a BBA in Cyber Security. Advice or similar experiences?

I’ve been having a lot of trouble trying to get a role in my field after graduating. I recently was contacted by a company that has a job listing including 10 weeks of training and certification requirements that I have already met. I did a screening call with them that seemed to go well.

I was informed today that I have been rejected because my degree is a BBA. They said that they desired a degree in Computer Science for their potential candidates, but they would also look at someone with an Information Systems degree or something else similar. I am personally a bit upset about this. The next step would’ve been a technical assessment, so I want to ask if I can just take it to prove my knowledge.

The thing is, I’m mostly upset because I really, really wanted this role. I am unsure of the appropriateness in debating this decision, because I don’t want to disqualify myself from this company in the future.

Have any of y’all experienced similar challenges? Do y’all have any advice to give? Thanks for reading
