I need help as far as realistic career moves into security. I’ve been in sales/business development (financial and security sales) for about 10 years now. I’ve even made it into management, and while the money is good, it’s never been a job I’ve enjoyed so much as just ended up in. Education wise I majored in linguistics. I have Intermediate html, python, and sql knowledge.
Things I enjoy: talking to IT professionals and business owners about how my company can help, also learning about what they’re currently doing. I enjoy programming languages, I’m currently in python classes and SQL and love it. I enjoy keeping up to date with different threats, and how to recognize social engineering, and teaching people how to recognize it.
I don’t mind sales in a big picture strategic way for a company, I just really can’t stand: the grind, prospecting, micromanaging, the salesman egos, instability in commissions.
Jobs I’m thinking about are: sales engineer, business analyst, product management. What titles do you know of that could work with my background that maybe I just wouldn’t know about, and what certifications would be helpful for me to get? I’ve considered the obvious ones Net+ Sec+ but I’ve also been told it’s not really necessary?
Sorry if there’s weird errors in here I’m on mobile. Thank you for any advice!
